Optional Slim Lodestar USB and Ultrastar CCDs
NeutronOptics x-ray or neutron cameras can be supplied with an optional slim "lodestar" CCD unit,
with the same 752x580 pixels (~100µ spatial resolution with the 80x60mm compact camera), or a higher resolution slim (Ultrastar" CCD with 1392x1040 pixels. However, the
new slim CCDs have far higher 16-bit intensity resolution compared to only 8-bits from the standard video CCD.
These slim CCD units cannot be Peltier cooled,
and are connected to a Windows computer via a single USB-2 cable used both to control the camera
and collect the image. Amplified 10m cable extensions can be supplied.
The standard camera options (wired/wireless controller, video cables and screen etc) are not used with these slim USB CCDs.
